I highly recommend these four online sight word games and each teaches from a different angle so you might want to get a trial of each. The year Anna finally learned to read, we were blessed to be reviewing three different online reading programs and each was instrumental in her final blaze of progress. Teaching your child to read is all about figuring out what is going to work best for them. However, studying this list of words does not necessarily make. Although the list of words is old and the word shall is no longer frequently used, the list has held up as a reliable indicator of frequently used words. We focus more on whichever method is working for each child – on an individual basis. The Dolch sight words are a list of the 220 most frequently found words in print in English childrens book lists of the 1940s. We combine a traditional approach to phonics with an additional emphasis on learning words “on sight” through sight word games, sight word worksheets, and sight word activities. Nowadays, I take a more balanced approach when teaching reading. Kindergarten students will practice their 52 sight words from the Dolch list. Phonics by itself was like a great big riddle she couldn’t solve. We partner with leading organizations and districts on shared teaching and learning goals. Teaching sight words helps promote literacy as well as reading and spelling. Place it somewhere you can view it easily and go through the sight words frequently with your child until they remember all of the sight words. The list is organized in alphabetical order. Most dyslexics take pictures of the whole word and store those pictures in their brain to figure out this thing called reading, and Anna was no exception. We have created a printable PDF of all 40 Dolch sight words for your tot. What finally worked was a combination of reading instruction methods with a strong emphasis on Sight Words and Word Recognition. I used to be that way, until I had a child with dyslexia. Right? Ha!
